Should I take a painting class even though I'm bad at art?

I really want to take Painting and Drawing I next year because I enjoy painting, but I'm pretty terrible at it. I'm not that artistically inclined and I don't want to feel out of place if all my classmates are really talented. I also don't want to get a bad grade either. Should I take it anyway?

all you need is creativity concept some ideas early and express what ever you feel passion about. don't bite off more than you can chew on your first project. have fun don't make it stress full simple things can be powerfull

Yes. If you enjoy it - take it. You'll have to work harder. Get help from your talented classmates. The only way you'll improve is to keep at it. If you enjoy it then that is what matters.

I wish I had taken art in high school.

My major in college was graphic design, but I did have a lot of interest in other types of art. In particular, illustration. I decided to take a digital illustration class even though I am no where close to being able to draw professionally. I was indeed the worst in the class, but I still learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I remember my professor (who taught some of my design classes so I already knew him) asking me when the semester ended if it was worth it. And it was. If you think you can handle the criticism you may receive for your art skills not being up to par, then I say go for it.
