Hi, Im still not suer I have acid reflux!
Am due to have a biopsy taken on Monday with general anesthetic! now today after 10mths continual sore throat it is a lot better, Ive been taking piriton for a couple of weeks just incase it is an allergy and the symptoms of my throat seem to be getting better.
So should I still go through with the biopsy? as there is a small risk with it and its definitley going to give me a sore throat again!
Trouble is if I cancel it would they not see me again?
Thanks.

i would go through with it, it will help give you some answers and ease your mind, they took a biopsy at my endoscopy too, it is pretty typical. This way if the symptoms persist/come back (hopefully not!!!) you don't have to wait again for the procedure, it will have already been done. This is an endoscopy, right?

Hi, yes it is an endoscomy, im worried that it will make my throat worse tho! what was it like for you? did you have to have a general anesthetic? thats what i cant figure? why do i have to be put to sleep?

aw, hopefully that will subside soon, i did not have a sore throat one of those with my endoscopy. I think you will be happy you had it done and over with. I had my ENT scope today, a little uncomfortable but the good news is no lesions in my thraot, my vocal chorRAB etc look fine, just inflammation in my throat. My throat is still quite sore and "sunburnt" many days, the nexium is starting to give me a little less reflux but i am on a super strict diet and i still do get some reflux, so dr asked if i wanted to try a new ppi today and i said, no, goodness, lets please give it a little while to try and work.

So happy your is done and over with, did the dr or nurse teel you or whomever was your driver what it looked like in there at all? I know the biopsy, etc takes a few weeks, but just wondering.

yes, i was under general anesthesia, it wasn't that bad and very quick:) the anxiety before it was the worse part, let us know the results and best wishes.

Glad your results were good, no one said anything to me on the day, but the hospital I went to is so busy that they probably didnt get time to say anything!
Guess I will just have to wait for the results.

I hope you get the test results soon. My doctor gave me a report after the procedure was done along with pictures of the insides.

My doctor went out after the procedure and talked to my husband, but he didn't talk to me. This is apparently standard practice for this doctor and this facility, and, if I had it to do over, I would select a different doctor with a more immediate follow-up with the patient. My follow-up with the doctor - when I will FIRST hear from the doctor what he saw - will be TWO MONTHS after the endoscopy. That's just about pointless in my opinion. He won't remeraber anything about my procedure, of course (having scoped dozens of other patients in the meantime), and I guess he will just read his notes to me. I have seriously considered cancelling the follow-up appointment altogether and just getting a copy of the scope report instead, thereby saving myself the cost of the office visit. SO, if you have a doctor who gave you immediate follow-up, consider yourself lucky!

Hi, had it done today, very sore throat now tho!!!
Dont know any results yet, but did get to see the letter ENT sent to my doctor (by accident) and reading it it does seem that he thinks its reflux, will have to wait and see tho.
