should i still be waiting for a call/correspondence?

So an IT position opened in my hometown. Entry level and i fit all the requirements, i interned for more than half of this year at a community college so i have great references and experience. The position was posted the 3rd of November, I applied the 4th. I called to make sure my application was received and it was. The position closed the 15th. Now the waiting game.

Should I give up hope on this position, or does it typically take time to get a call? Can any HR people or job seekers clue me in?
