It has around 157,000 and to my knowledge it has used regular gas its whole life.... would there be any benefit to using higher octane gas? Thanks =)

The car is designed to run on low octane fuel. There is no benefit to paying more for the higher octane fuel. If you want to keep it alive just keep maintaining it.

You should continue to use 87 Octane gasoline. A higher octane fuel is not needed and could cause more harm than good. The common misconception is that premium fuel is cleaner than a lower octane. When, in fact a higher octane causes more heat in the conbustion chaber, which could cause damage to engines which are not designed for this heat. Basically, only high performance engines require a higher ocatne.
