Should I run 1080i or 720p? Using Motorola DCT6416III running (HDMI) through Onkyo

607 receiver and 42" Sanyo? I am trying to figure out which is better 720p or 1080i? I have read mixed reviews..

Running Motorola dct6416 III DVR through Onkyo 607 receiver to Sanyo 42" 1080p LCD TV.

In the video options on the Motorola, the best supported video formats are 1080i and 720p.
 
1080 is a higher resolution than 720. If you have a choice, select that. But using 1080 with a 720 source won't increase the quality. Most TV's will automatically select the right resolution for the program. If there is an auto or program select that's the one you should use.
