Should I return the Pre Plus?

I'm coming from a BlackBerry Curve 8330 that I loved. The battery life was just right, I loved how precisely everything (Facebook, email and texts) was integrated and the usability was just great. I got bored with it, so I called Verizon and ordered a Pre the first day I was eligible. I really like it except for a few things like the lack of Facebook notifications and the fact that it feels like even the basic apps aren't part of the phone and take a while to load. The menus are a little weird. These are things that I could normally look past but taking into consideration the HORRIBLE battery life, I really don't think I can just forget about it.

My school was built on old farmland, so its away from the main roads and therefore has terrible service. By noon I'm at 50% battery, and all I've done is sent a few texts and maybe looked at the news online. By the time I'm home at 3 the battery is at 30% or less. I have the brightness all the way down, location and Google is turned off and I don't have any IM clients.

I'm really not sure what I should do. I like the idea of the Pixi plus, but I'm not sure if the battery is much better. I also like the Droid, but again I'm not sure about the battery life. I like the new Curve, but it seems the build quality has gone way down. I really don't want to get into the Tour because of the trackball issue and the fact that the Tour 2 is pending. Or I could just forget a smart phone and get an EnV 3. The only option that i'd consider for an extended battery is the one that you don't need a new cover for, but It seems like that its just another thing that goes wrong.

So, anyone have any insight?

None of the smartphones you mentioned above will have battery life compared to the BlackBerry. If battery life is your main concern, I wouldn't stray away from the BB. If you can hold out for the Tour2, I would try to do that. No trackball, wifi, and the keypad is pretty easy to get used to coming from the Curve.

I'd need to return the phone within 13 days. I know that the smart phones i mentioned don't have the battery life like the Curve but all I want is to be able to go a 12 hour period without having to recharge. Would I be making a mistake if I got the new Curve?

I think that you will be if you can hold out for that Tour2. If you return the phone, and just stick with your current Curve, you can use your upgrade when the Tour2 comes out. You get one return, and you would still be ok. I am pretty sure that you will not lose your upgrade if you return it. Double check first though with Verizon.
