Should I really be the one to say 'hi' this time on Facebook chat?

Met him on vacation a couple of months ago...inseparable for a couple of days & we emailed a bit afterwards. He was supposed to come visit but flights too expensive (he studies). Often he would initiate the chat with 'hi' when he sees me online. A few days ago I sent him a chat..telling him some dates with cheap fares. He didn't reply. He's been online last 2 days & not said 'hi' which hurts. He has also invited me & maybe I can in a couple of mths. Should I just wait?
 
This is a Relationships question, not a computer question. Just because you're using Facebook, that doesn't mean this is the place to ask for advice to the lovelorn.
