ok so i did jv cheer as a sophmore and im really interested in making varsity. im nervous though because i dont think i am going to and there are actually a lot of open spots and i want to maximize my chances by practicing. I am worried about tumbling because alot of varsity has tumbling and i dont. but alot of girls on jv dont either. im getting nervous because tryouts are 3 weeks away. i have done tumbling in the past i just have to work on it. I was close to my backhandsrping for a while but just havent gotten around for the classes. also i am doing track this spring and its fun but im really not that good. and i figure it might be a waste of time for me to do track when i can be preparing for something id go further in. The reason why i dont want to quit is because i dont want to be known as the quitter and i have a lot of friends who do track with me. also because it does get me in shape for tryouts and allows me to have endurance for all the dancing and jumping etc. So i could use some help. thanks alot!

I say stick with track. It can't be more than a couple hours each day, right? If your practice is done by 6:00 pm or so, you still have time to make a tumbling class or have a private lesson. Most gyms are open until 8:00 or 9:00 or even later, especially around cheer tryout time when everyone wants tumbling privates!

Yes, you will be tired. Yes, you might have to stay up later than usual to finish your homework. But it's only for three weeks. People have endured much worse and survived! You can do it! And when tryouts is all over, you'll be glad you stuck with it! Because what if you quit track and then don't make cheer? You'll really regret it. But of course, you WILL make cheer... and you'll be proud of your accomplishment and the fact that you did it without having to quit track!
