Should I plant tomatoes in garden again?

I have planted for 3 years now tomatoes in my garden. Someone once told me I shouldnt keep planting tomatoes because it will give my soil to much acid? So this year I decided not to plant tomatoes but I really cannot find any information if this is true?
If it is what would be good to plant in my garden to counter the effects?
