Should I plant potted plants outside in the garden?

We planted some seeds in pots in the summer that we kept in the house just to add some colour in the house. One pot contains a mint plant, and the other contains poppies. I planted the poppies because it said on the package that they don't bloom the first year. However, they get very tall so obviously I can't keep them in the pot permanently. Is it too late to plant them outside now that it is getting cold out? Also, the mint plant is starting to turn a little brown on some of the leaves, so should I plant it outside? I live near Toronto, Ontario.

If it gets below freezing where you live you won't be able to plant the
poppies. Mint usually does very well once it's rooted well, but putting
it out now might now be a good thing. Best of luck. Poppies are
beautiful when blooming.
