Should i paint my 1990 Dodge Dakota?

It runs fine all i have done to it is replace things such as front shocks, water-pump, timing belt, and a rebuilt transmission. Its the dodge dakota with the extended cab(Still 2 door) v6 3.9L engine (i believe). I Love my truck and i want to keep it instead of having to go through buying another used car which i wont know if it will bring more problems than its worth.. i am planning on painting my truck red (same color) and for 1,000 i can get a paint-job which also includes body work(rust, dents, etc.) and good paint. Should i go ahead and give it a paint-job and keep the car? I think if i sell my truck i wont get that much money out of it anyhow... i also have some money saved up to buy a car (used car) but since my dad gave me the car (so i didn't have to buy my own car and still had the money) and i like it because its a strong car (and it looks nice with the dual tailpipes and wide tires and non-stock rims etc.) i can now use that money towards painting it. and i will still have enough to even buy a rebuilt engine (even though its not needed and current still runs). So in conclusion, paint truck and keep it? or use money to buy another used car?
