I really want to learn but all the classes near me are at unsuitable times, in fact, I just can't go.

I am wondering if it would be awkward or creepy even lol, since is seems quite sexy. Do you have to get the opposite sex to be taught? Or SHOULD you?

Also how do I find out that they know what they're doing as it is obviously not regulated and I have been to so-called professionals in the past who were really unprofessional and I practically knew more than them. Any good resources online like websites with a pre-made list (aka don't tell me to google, i'm not stupid, and don't tell me to buy a dvd either)
I don't mean dancers in the past btw. Also I have no one to ask, and I am in the UK

I say absolutely yes. I've taken private Salsa lessons and it was some of the best money I've spent. And if the teacher is a professional, then they should make it as comfortable as possible for you. All my private lessons has been with a woman and I never felt uncomfortable with her. She was very gentle and and we've become good friends and I absolutely trust her. But whether or not you should take from a man or a woman would depend on what you're trying to learn. One thing I needed to learn was how to give a proper lead and I couldn't do that with a man. But a woman looking for some ladies' styling should take a lesson with a woman.

But where were you thinking about taking your private lessons? I don't know the area where you live and your transportation resources, but do you have a dance studio near by that teaches Salsa? Maybe you can contact them about privates and bring up your concerns. I'm sure they could put you in contact with a reputable instructor who could teach you well and make it fun for you.
