Should I let fear control me and prevent me from buying a bike?

I want a motorcycle so badly. My dad rides and I've just, I've always wanted one. I know I'd be a safe driver. I know I would do things correctly.
I wanted to be a cop, but why don't I become one? I'm scared of dying. Yeah, I know it seems stupid. But I live life with so much fear.
I want to buy myself a cruiser. But I'm hesitant due to my fear. Can anyone help me with this?
