Should I keep the car or return it to the dealership?

I just purchased a 2003 Dodge Neon today. It had 54,000 miles on it and according to car facts had been in no prior accidents and had 2 previous owners. The last owner only kept the car for about a year. I payed around $5,000.00 for the car.

I test drove it before purchasing it of course and drove it today for about 44miles. I noticed the breaks squeak really badly when you go down hills and I called the dealership on that. They told me if I still had problems to bring it back on Monday.

I went to drop some things off at work and as I got into my car the check engine light came on. It shakes when I back it up and the cooling fluid said "add fluid"

The man at the dealership told me the car may need to be "reset" not exactly sure what this means but, Should I return the car? Was I sold a lemon? I really do like the car but I'm a bit disappointed what could be wrong??

Honestly you um asked this in the wrong category. Now to answer your question. What you need to do is take your car back on monday and get the service personell tell you why the check engine light is on. When you test drove the car did you have the same problems? You need to also on monday first try talking to the sales person that sold you the car and see if he will get the car serviced for ya. The breaks well thats tough luck that you will have to replace yourself, as for the engine light and coolant thing that they might be able to do for you. If the sales person is being a d*ck about it then you need to go above him and ask for the sales manager (used car) well depending on how big the dealership is. Never heard of a car being reset (dont know that that means) Anyways how old are you? It would help if you brought your dad/uncle/older brother with you. I know sounds sexist but.... they tend to talk to guys better because all sales people think that girls dont know what they are talking about. Also you could ask them to show you the service that was performed on the car at the dealership. That might help you decide on whether you want to keep the car or not. Hopefully this helped a bit. Look angry and then well the sales manager should be able to help you out a bit. Like i said the only thing that they wont do is the breaks that you will have to spend your own money on. If you have any more questions email me through Y/A illl try and help ya.
