Judo skills even sharper)? In my current schedule I take Judo 2x's a week and Japanese Jujutsu 1x a week. I started off taken JJ first several months agon. I felt that JJ was too soft/slow so I took Judo to supplement it.
JJ is good technically. I see some good things from the teacher. But, it's real slow. It's taught 2x's a week in a church. They are careful not to make it to hardcore because kids take it also with adults and it's taught in that church setting. They never do any type of sparring. It's just learning wrist locks, strikes, blocks, and some Judo/Aikido type throws. You practice with a partner of course these different moves. The strikes are just done in the air no pads.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't just use that JJ day for Judo instead. I don't feel like I get enough time with Judo as it is. I get 1 hr. 45 min. from those 2 classes.
Is sport Judo good enough for self defense? Or do I need to just be patient and stick with this JJ class to add more to my Judo? I also would like to compete in Judo tournaments also.
