"Liberal Arts" is a waste of time. If you don't have a fully defined career path or reason for going to college, I would usually recommend not going.
In my opinion, your feelings of guilt are JUSTIFIED.
In answer to your question, do NOT "just go for it" and indeed do something more practical. Anthropology, philosophy, sociology and other flowery liberal curricula will not be of benefit to you. Again, listen to your intuition and lean toward down to earth pursuits.
How about starting a low-cost cleaning (or other type of) business and becoming an entrepreneur instead of wasting your time with those dumb subjects that go nowhere?
