Should i join the debate team?

Im a freshman at high school this year and we were given the opportunity to go around and look at clubs that we would potentially like to be involved in. I took a flyer from the debate team table because I thought that I might like it and I might be good at it. But my friends think it's nerdy and I'm afraid I might be one of the only girls...Should I go to the first meeting and see if I like it? I want to...I'm just sort of shy when I'm doing something for the first time...
 
Excellent for getting in to the college of choice if you are a member of the debate team. In life if you know how to make your point, not only as a lawyer, but also at work, you're viewed as a leader.
 
Yes you should.I think its one of few clubs in school wothwhile and it may help you later on.But you will need to speak up its expected.I one regret from school I didn't make that team because I flunked Biology.Go and try,you have lots to gain and nothing to lose.
