I'm writing a resume. I'm a freshman in college. I need to put volunteer work in the resume but should I include high school as well as college volunteer work?

I would recommend it. If you were any farther in your college career I wouldn't. You don't want information that is more than 5 years old. use things that you have currently been involved in. Try to avoid lapses in time as well. I would definitely add it in there though!

Absolutely! If the volunteer work shows you have some sort of experience, then put it in!

Yes. Be descriptive and say everything useful. Don't say useless stuff on resumes, no one wants to read it and people browse over it anyway.List any and all volunteer work including responsibilities.

It depends on the type of volunteer work. If it was for a political or environmental cause leave it out. A prospective employer may not agree with your views, If it was for something non-controversial by all means include it. It would show a good attitude and probably team player

Needs to be something of substance. This means if you volunteered for a period of time, recurring duties, or extended volunteer duties then go ahead and list it out. On the other hand if you did something like volunteered for a single afternoon picking up trash and painting walls for a charity, as valiant as that is, should not be part of the resume.
