I really like fantasy books, and now I'm writing one. But I don't know if the fantasy genre matches the plot. I would really like to add griffins, elves, phoenixes and all those magical creatures, but the story plot already seems fine the way it is. So if I add fantasy, would it be over the top?
The plot:
It's about an outcast. He lives on the outskirts of the city. But when something terrible happens to the city, the people blame it on him. He soon becomes the most wanted criminal in the city, making his survival difficult. But he soon finds a gang of thieves and he joins them. They become strong friends, but the outcast soon discovers a secret about them, and betrays them. A girl soon finds him and tries to bring him into town to be ‘judged’, but the outcast convinces her not to. And they don’t become friends, but get to know each other well. The setting is somewhere between a dystopia and steampunk.
