Should I hold on to my Sega Nomad?

Hi,
I have a Sega Nomad, with a battery pack that does not work. I have been holding on to it, thinking that some day it could be worth money, since it is rare. But after seeing it sell on ebay several times for about 40-50$, I'm thinking maybe it's not going to increase in value (maybe it is not as rare or desired as I thought).

I'd like some educated advice on what I ought to do. I would like to buy a SNES, and thought of trading it for one. Is this a good idea?
Thanks for the help.
