Should I have my own house key? I'm 18 and getting a car and my parents trust me...?

...but they still won't let me have my own house key. My sister (two years older) has one so shouldn't it be fair that I do as well? If anything else, for safety reasons... it seems they'd rather I walked the street on my own whilst locked out rather than be safe at home.
 
Have you done something in the past that would really make your parents uneasy about giving you a house key or are they just weird? I mean, I got my first house key when I was seven, and I've never known a teenager who's parents forbid them from having a key to the house.
