I have an 18 gallon freshwater in my room right now, and since it is a small tank I would like to get just one or two large fish relatively by themselves.
My original idea was to have just one Discus by itself and take exceptional care of it. I thought it would be fine if I had it by itself in my tall 18, but someone told me that Discus like to be in groups, and my tank isn't big enough. Is it a capital crime to keep a Discus by itself?
And if that doesn't work, should I just get a Black Ghost Knife? They are very beautiful and would probably be okay by itself. But again, is 18 simply too small, even if it's on its own?
