Should I have a transmission flush performed on a 2000 Toyota Solara?

I drive a 2000 Toyota Solara SLE V6 with approx. 140,000 miles on it. About six months ago I had my radiator flushed and I just had new tires and a fuel system clean performed on it as well as I have always stayed up on oil changes, even opting for the high mileage oil. Over the summer, Jiffy Lube told me that Toyota recommends a transmission flush after so many miles which I'm sure I've exceeded greatly. What should I do? How much is reasonable to pay for this?

Also I should add I still owe about 6,000 dollars on the vehicle so I'm going to be driving it for a while in the future and I also drive home from college (about 220 miles round trip) maybe one or two weekends a month.

Please help!
 
Only if you want to harm it. Stick to normal trans maintenance. There's NO WAY that Toyota recommends a flush. Ask him to show you the letter from'em.
 
a tranny flush shouldnt be too expensive, atleast under 100 bucks.
i do my own flushes at my cousins shop so i dont know exact pricing. but its highly recommended and will keep the tranny strong. also i would recommend a light tune up with new spark plugs, wires and distributor cap. this deff helps keep the engine strong. and occassionly run cylinder cleaner through your car about twice a year? and fuel stabilizer as well. all these little things can help keep your car running like new and as long as you keep the body new. itll keep its value fairly well.
i would highly recommend most of this though. and do soem google search on recommended tune ups or maintenence so u get a better understanding
 
140k no not at all change fluid and filter...and when you refill your tranny add a bottle of lubegard very good stuff for your tranny...
 
I never did like the ideal of flushing a transmission with so many miles on it ,for the same reason i don't think any one should have a cleaner ran through a engine with high mileage on it , there's been many time i've seen people run a cleaner through there engine or a flush through there transmission and then have all kinds of problems after they spend there money having the cleaner and flush done to there vehicle, Thank about it your cleaning all parts down to a raw metal leaving it without any coating to help protack the working parts , the next thing your transmission start to slip and your engine start's to tick or knock from the lack of lube, then before you know it your on foot.
 
you can get it flushed if you want to but it can cause leaks and maybe harm the transmission. i don,t believe in flushing transmission. if your going to do anything then just drain it and change the fluid and filter.
