Go on your vacation with your son. You will treasure that time forever. Make him a priority for 7 days. Your EX will still be here when you get back if he is interested. Distance makes the heart grow fonder as well.

No, 2000 is not a lot these days. You only live once. We just got back from Wash DC trip and spent 2800 for 5 days. It is a trip of a lifetime for you and your little boy.

That is my honest opinion ;-)

you have the money to do something you really want to do. Something you always wanted to do. and the temptation to not get what you want is too great to consider otherwise.
However, and this is a BIIIIGGG HOWEVER.
Every 7 year old boy needs quality time with his father.
A camping trip with his dad breeds excellent oportunities your 7 year old will carry with him for the rest of his life. Do not look at a camping trip as a time for you and your ex to rekindle a relationship. Just take the time to get back to understanding each other once again. Let the boys father be an example for his son, let him teach the boy a few things. Family time is rare these days, and to have the luxury of making memories on a grand vacation, think of your son.
You can always go to Costa Rica but children are only young once.

as a family with his dad ..? Please read the details! I've wanted to go to CR for years and finally have the money and the 9 days vacation time..(in four days)..Or i could have the chance to rekindle the relationship with my son's dad on a family cmping trip. I've wantd to know if it would work again between him and i for years (we've always been "friends", often flirty and we slept together last weekend.though we haven't really talked about it)
I might not have another chance to go to CR until next summer. I'd be slightly unorganized with the itiniarary, but i love the adventure. My ex said that maybe we could save Costa Rica for another time when we had more time to plan, even though i dont trust that he would stay true to his word a year from now.i originally asked him to go w/ us but he doesn't have a passport ....I dont want to sell myself short and i hate regrets..something tells myself i'd regret not going to Cr but i admit im a little scared to go with only my 7 year old, even though i believe that we'd succeed and be fine! Is 2000$ too much to blow on a seven day vacation? I've made lists of pros and cons but still am trapped by my indeciseveness!!!!!! Honest opinions wanted!!!! Thanks
