Well i am currently a sophomore and i did not make the basketball team this year, however i made it last year, but i wasnt that great. I know if i want to play next year im going to need to have improved A LOT, because the only teams i can make are varsity and JV, which are very hard to make... the thing is, my mom said i can go to basketball camp if i want, but i dont know if i should. Is it worth it? Will it teach me everything i need to know in only 5 days? I meen i consider myself a very good player, im just very underrated, and i feel that if i developed some basic fundamentals I can become a phenomenal player. I dont want to just give up on basketball because i know that i would regret it, but on the other hand, next year i am going to be take ALL AP/honors classees, and it is going to be hard to manage basketball and school... But i am willing to put forth the effort if i can get good enough to grab a spot on JV, hopefully a starting position...
so what should i do? I am very confused, and i hope somebody with some similar experience reads this and gives me some advice....

P.S I live in Houston, tx... Know any good camps around here? Money is an issue, my mom said she will pay whatever, but im not gonna let her spend all that money for no reason, and then what happens if i dont make the team.

Basketball camps are good for getting lots of repetitions. All the years I played basketball I traveled all over the country going to camps (Arizona, Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana, North Carolina, Kansas, Illinois State). True 5 days isn't going to improve you enough to make a team, but it will give you drills and show you the fundamentals that you'll need to work on and master to play at that level.

I always have promoted basketball camps to my players, so I will always so go for it....But its the work that you do outside the gym when the coach isn't watching that improves you.

To be better you have work hard at it!
