Should I get the Toyota RAV4? And if so, what year?

I'm getting my first car soon, and I'm leaning towards asking for a Toyota RAV4. I want the black 2006 version, but I'm not sure whether I'll be able to find one for around $10,000 and minimal mileage. I don't really care whether it's the sport version or whatever, but if I do get it, I would definitely want it to be black.

What are your opinions on this? Is there a better small SUV out there for around 10k? If you have a Toyota RAV4, what do you think about it? Also, I really need to know if anything before the 06 version is worth getting.
