Should I get the new Macbook Pro 13" or Sony Vaio E Series 15"?

Was going to get a Sony Vaio E Series 15" with the top spec (6GB RAM, i7 processor, 640GB hard drive, 6GB memory, Blu Ray Writer, ATI Graphics 1GB card etc) and made my decision based on the fact the the Macbook Pro didn't cut it for me because of the core 2 duo processor, plus Sony was cheaper.

But now yesterday Apple brought out the new Macbook Pros and I'm confused! Should I get the Macbook Pro 13" for £1299 which has i7 processor, 4GB memory 500GB hard drive, or go for the Sony Vaio which is cheaper at £1,059?

I'll be using it for all the usual stuff, plus video editing. Now I'm used to editing with Adobe Premiere, but open to learning Final Cut. If I wanted to run Adobe Premiere on a Mac would I notice it running slowly?

I don't do any gaming, so no problem there, but the other niggly thing is Blu Ray- Macbook Pro doesn't have a Blu Ray optical drive. Finally, I can't afford 15" on the Mac, so would 13" be big enough screen size?

Never been a Mac user but people who switch to Mac seem to love it.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
