Should a 17 year old have a car of their own or share a car under their parents insurance and share the car. Im asking this because im 17 and currently driving a **** box, and I would rather give up this **** stain on wheels and drive my moms 2000 BMW M5, this will slightly alter my freedom of when to drive but c'mon what would you rather drive, is this a good idea?

Depends on the occasion, if you're driving your friends around, the sh1tbox will do. If you got a date or someone that you want to express, take the M5.
Just keep your car, you'll feel better, trust me. I share car with my parents, but rather than me driving them, they chauffeur me more often, causing me to have restrictions even upon leaving the house, since they're always out (I'm now living a more slightly hermit kind of life now). Sometimes, I take a bus (Well, I have to walk a long distance to the bus stop) and sometimes, I have to just walk home from my destination. Also, at the rate of 33 Deg. Celsius or more during daytime, I wouldn't like to walk under the sun to get skin cancer.

She has a cool car, but it's hers. You can't keep stuff of yours in there, adjust everything like you want. C'mon your 17. I didn't even have a car at 17. Take what you can get.
