...tuner/CD player? I have a 2002 Honda Civic, and it doesn't have an aux port for direct connection to my iPod. I've heard the nightmares that are FM modulators. Should I keep the same system and use the adapeter which goes behind the car's console? or should I replace the default tuner/CD assembly with a system capable of aux inputs? Which one would be cheaper/better?

For better sound quality i would get a new tuner/cd (also called a deck or headunit) that is ipod ready and plugs into the back of the ipod. I found its the highest quality sound and relatively cheap in my opinion.
The Neo Prolink v2 is $200 plus installation and some headunits are less than that. I would get a new headunit. It would be easier to install with ipod and would produce better sound quality.
If you do decide to get a new headunit please don't get SONY they are very cheap and give out quickly. Also have a professional installer do it (audio-express or custom-sounds or another custom place) they do the best job and they are certified. The guys at best buy may know stuff but they usually aren't certified installers
