Should I get a Yamaha R6S (used) as my first bike? I have some riding experience.?

I've rode dirt bikes before, and I drive a manual transmission daily. I hear a lot of argument between people stating the R6 or R6S is definitely not a beginner bike because you will drop it blah blah... but all of them end up with the same line. "You don't want to drop a 10,000 bike. Is the R6S or R6 a bad beginner bike because it's expensive, or because it is a rough ride for beginners?

It's all about throttle control and taking it easy when you first start out. Find a nice empty road and practice letting the clutch out and also practice your throttle control. If you try and open that bike up when you first hop on it you're going to be in for a rude awakening. Take it easy and slow when you start to practice, then move forward slowly once you start to build confidence. When you feel comfortable with it take it for a nice slow ride around town in traffic.

I got that very same bike as my first bike and i got used to it too fast and your hand can slip and over do the throttle and hit a tree. I recomend a NEW '09 gsxr sure it was 10 8 but worth every penny and when you get a new bike you tend to take care of it more and make it your own not someones left overs.

If you've ridden dirtbikes and know how to drive stick, then you're in good shape. But be careful at first, this bike is a beast compared to the dirtbikes you've ridden. Get comfortable with the throttle. The new R6's (06 and up) are extremely fast, they'll give an R1 a ride for their money. Be safe and be careful!
