Should I get a new 2009 honda civic or toyota corolla?

honda civic sedan dx 5-spd AT or toyota corolla base 4-spd AT.
This is my 1st car & I am going to get it tomorrow. I am just doing more research. After I have made my decision, I have to work on the finance and then the insurance.

Purpose: Is to get from pt. A to pt. B

Please send me links of any articles or reviews.
Also, please tell me why. simple terms, please. I am not an expert in cars. I am still learning. That is how I grow.

Both really are great cars..but I personally would go with the Honda Civic!! They have been around for awhile and the body of the car will be crappy before the engine!!!
 
the honda civic, its just nice and faster than the corolla and has a good resale value
