Should I get a masters degree or a PhD in economics?

If you like to debate about our economy than you should. Personally I hate debating about our problems. I draw for a living.
 
I will graduate in December and I am looking into graduate school. I wanted to know which is the better path to take.
 
From my professor point of view ,when you want to have a good carrier in economics, you should have at least a master degree meaning that if you could go further than a master and get a doctorate degree it will help you a lot when you will be looking for a job .
