should i get a lawyer?

Hi there.I was accused at work of something i didnt do,i was suspended and was reported to the police.There was no evidence and the only witnesses were the girl who reported me and myself.I have been questioned by the police and had an investigatory interview from work and now i have a disciplinary meeting next week.How long do these investigations go on for,this is now 5 weeks and i am no further forward,i dont even know what is happening with the police.Should i get a lawyer or do you only hire one if you get charged?
ps i am from scotland
 
Personally, I think you oughta get a good lawyer as soon as you can.
If you were charged, then they'll provide you with one since you have the right to an attorney by law.
