Hi a few months ago, i bought a 2002 Acura RSX type S from a private party. And a month ago i find out that my engine is burning oil not leaking oil. Ive been adding oil about quarter of a quart every so week. The mileage on it is 143,xxx. people say the only way to fix it is to rebuild the engine. Should i invest in fixing it or should i try to sell it and invest on another car?

Depends on what quotes you can get? Is better if you also change the big end and main bearings at the same time as well as sorting out the engine burning oil! I had the same problem a long time ago and I solved the problem by doing the following in the main- (I used new compression and oil control rings) - My engine stoped burning oil l! I did the job myself and was able to keep the cost down to only £150 or so... But it will not come cheap to go to a garage........

pistons have 2 types of ring- compression and oil Control rings! often just cleaning the oil Control rings and carefully scraping out the carbon from the groove they sit in (a broken ring works well) Do the same with your compressions..,will free them up to work! note-if you are ree using rings make sure they go back the same way on the same piston in the same bore because they are all mated and run in!

there is oil seals on your valve stems(valve stem seals) maybe they need to be replaced..
