I was pulled over at 1:03 AM Pacific Time Tuesday March 24th. Whenever my girlfriend has work I take her home because her car is currently not working. There is a road that is half way blocked off past 12 midnight. I always go through it simply to drop her off at her condo because it is the only place I can drop her off and see her get in safely and then I leave. It is a very narrow street so at the end there were 2 cops waiting. I knew all I was trying to do was get her in home safely and they pulled me over. First I had all 4 bright ass lights shined on me and then I was to stay in my car for 10 mins while they looked to make sure my record was clean. It was 37 degrees outside and we were freezing. They finally let us go and he wrote me a ticket for entering a unauthorized zone. Is this tiecket fightable? Is the job of any police officer not to ensure domestic tranquillity and ensure public saftey? Do they not have to take this oath before becoming a police officer? This is ridiculous. At least give me a warning and I will park a mile away and walk her home for now on if I have to. It's a little harsh and thank God my girlfriend was there becasue I almost let out my anger. I need some help please. By cops, ex cops, lawyers, anyone. Thank you. I will add additional details if needed.

ok First you admited you knew the road was closed therefore you admitted you broke the law. so the ticket is valid now morals do not override the law im sure the road was closed for safety because police departments do not just go close roads cause they have nothing to do.

secondly im not sure how this ensured domestic tranquillity but i do see how it ensure public safety and your safety al;though you may not see it. the road was closed for a reason (probabally a safety issue) and you goimg down that road made your safety in danger.

serosuly i would pay the ticket and be done with it its probabally a no point violation that if you fight in it court could turn in to one

if you would like additional help you can contact me at [email protected] thanks

The road which you described half-way blocked you took is considered to be one way only I suppose that is why when the police saw you drive through it they stop you. I know your motive is noble by just getting off your girl friend to her own condo. The cops pulled you over naturally. You have entered a supposedly no entry zone, this is my own conclusion otherwise why would the police stop you? They flash the 4 bright lights because they want to be sure you are alone or with other guys packing with guns. In this day and ages police are more alert than ever. Can you blame them with so much high-powered guns available to civilians now a days. If I were them I would certainly do the same to you. This is just preliminary precaution on the part of the police. They do not want to be caught flat-footed by hoodlums on the streets. You were told to stay in your car, I thought you were requested to get out of your car that is much worst with the 37 degrees you are telling us about. You are inside your car, you got no heater on your car? Everybody does have one why not your car? What is 10 minutes, some spent an hour inside a police station for nothing, no charges whatsoever. AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING already FOR ONLY THIS? And finally let both of you go. See I told you. You have entered a forbidden zone. Next time just because the road you saw is a simply short cut you can take it. Sometimes we have to use our COMMON SENSE once in a while ok. They gave you a ticket. So you are contemplating if you could wiggle out of this predicament?

Yes why not. But why fight it when you are the one who made a mistake by entering an unauthorized zone in the first place. So you are telling me the cops made a mistake in giving you a ticket? Is this what you are telling us here? The job of the police not only ensuring tranquility within the surroundings but to enforce rules and regulations on the streets if not chaos will ensue. So in my own opinion they were right in giving you a ticket. Are you harm by the police when they stop both of you? No correct, so where is this public safety all about? They do not have to take the oath. What oath is this? QUAKER OATH?

You are pissed off by the gesture of the police I understand your feelings but you have to weight the circumstances. You are the one who made the mistake here not the cops. The cops enforce the law, and you on the other hand violated it. So I do not see your point in fighting this ticket for. Pay and just move on with your life, if I were
you. Warning? What a warning shot in the air or use a megaphone shouting within range that you entered unauthorized zone? The cops job are to wait in one corner or probably some dark corner waiting for anybody to make a mistake just like your case here. If every cop will give off warning to every car then I suppose they do not have to carry this ticket in their car, would they? TICKETS ARE PROOF THAT car owners are liable to every mistakes they do on the streets. We are responsible to every action we take on this life. You shot a man therefore you go to jail simple as that. You shot a man and you just sleep it off in your house and nothing happen is this what you want to say to me? Now that you were given a ticket for entering unauthorized zone next time I think you will not entered it again correct?

If you are taking a bar exam or board exam for your profession and the watchers or professor always give you warning on what to answer correctly or otherwise. Do you think you will learn anything at all with this kind of procedure? YOU THINK THIS IS HARSH already? I suppose you were a little bit embarassed on the occasion because of your girlfriend with you correct that is why you are pissed off. If you were alone that night I think you will just accept it. But since you been humiliated by this cops it is time for REVENGE is it not? See you said you were angry at the gesture of the cops. You do not need to add more details. In my own conclusion, I do not know if you accept it or not. Pay the fine and move on. But you got another option fight it and let it make your life a little bit miserable. So you got a choice here, fight or flight. It is really up to you.

All you can do is go to court, and tell the judge just what you told us (about your girlfeiend, and not the letting out your anger part). He will either drop it, or lower the points on it. That's all you'll get. Best of luck man, I too live in a town with extremely bored cops. Can't say I really love my police escort home EVERY NIGHT!

Maybe try to explain you wanted her safety, but the law is the law, so maybe even asking if there could be another way to take her home to avoid it next time. That is probably the best advice I can give. BUt good luck though, they were just doing their job, alot of corrupt cops, but think of the good ones. I'm sure they wanted her safety too.

well i am not a cop or lawyer but it depends on how much the ticket cost and if the lawyer cost more or close to the ticket amount then it is really not worth it but if you want to go to court anyway go a head. even though i am 13 almost 14 i have gone to juvenile court i think 8 times i won 2 of them and lost 6 because i have to go to court when you break the law like i did. if you have a clean record then they can't put you in jail for a little flaw like that but if i did that oh yah i would be put in juvie again ( because of my probation). good luck and watch out for cops next time they are just fucking jack asses who just want to make more money that way ( that is how i see it)

Legally, they have you. Technically, the road was closed off, so the ticket is valid. Of course there are moral issues involved, but they aren't covered by the law. If you feel it is unfair, fight it in court. That majority of traffic tickets are dropped if taken to court, simply because most of the time the issuing officers don't show up. If the officer doesn't show up, the ticket is dropped.

If the officer DOES show up, you are probably out of luck. Like I said, the ticket is legit, no matter the moral reasoning behind it all (IMHO, you should of just been given a warning, but I am the only one out of my friends that doesn't speed or drive recklessly, yet I seem to be pulled over for every little small thing and given a ticket).

Of course, if you have a clean driving record, the judge will most likely drop it down and just charge you for court costs (if you decide to fight it, you do have to pay the court fee, usually around 100$, even if the ticket is dropped).

If it says "closed to though traffic"
you can fight it because legally anyone with an adress (your girlfriend) living on the block can be there..so she will have to go with you to fight it
but if its closed to any.. they can make you walk or take back roads or anything.. so cant fight that.. and most cops would give you a warning but they dont have to..
