should I feed my fish now?

I just got it from the pet store (betta named Bok Lau... 10 points to those who know the reference, and dont look it up)... and I want to know if I should feed it now... I put it in it's new tank and it is getting acclimated but should I feed it now? I want to know so that I don't mess its chances of being acclimated to its tank and I don't know if the pet store fed him today. It is 8:30 and I got him around 7:30 ie. later in the day
