Should I drive my cadillac to the Mountains?

So here's the scoop. I am a 22 year old college student living in the great california, and I like to go snowboarding out at Lake Tahoe. Now, the ski resort is about 4 hours from my house, and 2 of those hours are climbing the sierras to about 6,500 feet where the resort is. So, every time I go up there I never drive my car because it is a 1996 cadillac sts which, of course, is a gas guzzler. But now, I want to go up with this woman that I've known for about 5 years, and we've always been very close to each other. We've never officially "dated", but our feelings for each other are expressed very frequently, including a couple sexual occasions. I've moved to various parts of the country and we've always stayed in contact.(she lives here in Cali). But anyway, the question i want to ask is that since i wanna go up to lake tahoe alone with her, i would have to take my cadillac, which has 171K. The car is actually in very good condition and never overheats or anything and i always have kept up with the maintenance.(and im not just saying that). I know the gas is a lot and everything, i just want some opinions on whether my car is strong enough for a drive like that, or if I should just rent... Please, any help would be amazing... I really want to take my cadillac because its a very smooth ride and its big and comfortable... so let me know what you guys think.
