Should i do make chips and salsa for a group of high schoolers?

So we have to make an appetizer for a group of high schoolers and i was thinking about this.. would it be okay? or do you have a better idea? oh and i want something unique! but delicious, too!

Thanks!

Chips and salsa always go over well. If you have a crock pot though, there is a cheese dip involving Velveeta and Ro-tel tomatoes that is fabulous. The recipe is on the Ro-tel can. None of this is unique, of course, but it's good. A lot of times I use a block of cream cheese with Hot Pepper Jelly poured on top as an appetizer, using crackers instead of chips, or celery and baby carrots.

nacho chips are great but you can grate some cheese (prepacked nacho cheese at grocery storesor just grate some cheddar and mozza together), cut some green pepper, onion, black olives, hot peppers. Mix it all together and bake it in the oven for a bit, dont forget to add some cajun spices (cumin, paprika, sugar, salt, pepper and onion/garlic powder). Serve with salsa. Or just look up a layered dip, it multiplies the flavor. Fiesta

why not make something healthy like sliced red, orange and yellow peppers and a dill dip. Here is an easy recipe for the dip:

INGREDIENTS
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
1 teaspoon dill weed
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

DIRECTIONS
Combine the first six ingredients; mix well. Cover and refrigerate. Serve with vegetables.

This will work with any veggies

You can double this recipe if it does not serve enough people. This is for 12 people

I'm not sure why msjantas has gone on and on about only bringing recipe you've made a million times and she will only eat when she knows "good cooks" are making hte food. Give me a break alreadyChips and salsa is a great idea and super easy.

Buy the black bean and corn salsa. You can find it by the picco de gallo in the fresh produce section, or a mango salsa would be good.

Then jazz up your corn tortilla chips, fritos, or plain lays by spreadinbg them on a cookie sheet and popping them in a 350 degree oven for about 10-15 min.

When you take the out sprinkle them with crystalized lime juice (found in the baking section) and a littel pinch of seasoned salt or even chili powder if you wish.

Toss lightly and pour into a bowl.

Or use the Limon chips from Lays. But I buy the cheap store brand where I get twice as much for a smaller price then season them myself.

I would NEVER think of bringing something to a get together if it was not something that I had made many times before and knew it was a very favorite at other parties. Cannot believe people who ask for new dishes and plan on serving them to others when they have no idea if they would be good or not. Guess this is why I only eat people's dishes that I know are good cooks and would not just dumb something on someone.

Yes that would be ok but you could do lots of little pizza bites made out of mini bagels. Just top them with pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese.
You could also do fruit kabobs...lots of fresh fruit- cherries, cantaloupe, peaches, pineapple on a stick.
