Should I design a brochure if the client doesn't want to pay the 50% signed upfront

contract agreement? This is the client's reply to my original comment (see below), 50% upfront payment is due upon signing of the contract, which the client signed and emailed back a week ago. So, they are now trying to dictate my payment policy and go against the contract. They are clearly asking for a date to get it done before I will get paid, again against contract. Also, an employee of the client's company indicated they have constant cash flow problems.

How would you reply to the client?

Hi,
We’ll take care of the deposits early next week. I’ve signed the contracts. Work and finish the design brochure projects as I want them completed and ready for printing by mid next week.

Here is my original comment to the client:
Subject: RE: Nutritional product brochure text editing work authorization agreement attached

Hi David:
I have some text edits in mind.

As soon as the deposits are received we can get started on this one.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Additional Details
The client indicated it is a rather small amount. Well, if it is a small amount, then I wonder what the problem is with mailing the payment with the signed agreed 50% upfront contract obligation to start the design work?
