Should I derestrict my Honda Zoomer?

Hello,
I currently own a Honda Zoomer (50cc) scooter, but I am unsure whether I should derestrict it or not. Unlike normal mopeds, Honda have made it hard to derestrict the Zoomer, and therefore it will cost me about £500 to get it derestricted. I am saving up for a bigger bike when I am 17 (in 9 months), however, life at 30mph is becoming annoying to myself and other drivers. I know it is illegal for me to derestrict it as I am only 16, however, my dealer said that I should get it derestricted as everyone does it and the police don't notice.

Will derestricting it be worth it, and will it increase the 2nd hand value, when I sell it in 9 months time? My dealer said that it would be worth more derestricted, but I am not too sure.

I would be OK with it only being able to go 30mph, for the rest of the time I have it, although it would be nicer to go a bit faster (40mph), but only IF it won't cost me more money.

I know the question is kind of hard to answer, but I would like your opinions on what I should do.

Thanks,
LBG.

Basically, for £500, NO.
9 Months isn't too long !
Just hang in there at 30 !
De-restricting may not always increase the value of the bike, some people like to be legal.
And £500, you sure he isn't mugging you off?
Go check another garage and see how much they offer to de restrict, maybe search around for some prices.
Or if your feeling mechanical yourself, get a mate over and try figure out how to de restrict it yourself, there must be a website somewhere !
