Lately I have considered the military more openly, I always thought of it as a "last resort" choice. I am currently a senior in high school.. and my grades are well, okay they're above average but they are not what I would like to have (3.3 gpa). I am 17 years old and live in California. I am still rather immature, I still have a lot of growing up to do. I never talked to a recruiter of some sort, when I think of joining the military the first thing I think of is some drill sergeant all up in my face, getting deployed to some Arab country and kill people. I don't want to kill anyone. I know my view is not at all what I imagine it is, but still. If I had a choice, the branch I would want to join the most would be the Air force. My father was in the Navy, and he got to tour all of SE Asia, going around the world would be fun! Or is that just exclusive to the navy? Can any veterans/active duty (doesn't matter what branch, but more specifically the Air force) give me any advice, tips, of what like is there? I know you can go to college in the military, do they help out a lot? What would the chances be that I would be deployed to an area where there is tension/serious danger? What were your concerns when you first enlisted? What skills are needed to excel in the military?
Thank you.
Thank you.
