should i condition with sharp pains in my back?

I am conditioning for softball at my High school. I've hurt my lower back (Tailbone area). After a few days of resting, It became a little better. Once I started Ab workouts again, then pain came back and it was worse this time around. I need to know if I should keep working it out or if I should give my back a break for a while.


PS.
I condition for Mercy Academy and if you're from louisville and you play softball, you know the kind of coach I have. Probably the toughest one out there. Please get back to me as soon as possible so if I need to stop, I stop before it gets to where I have to sit out a season. Thanks :))
