My daughter (who is 16) had a life-skills lesson today.
She has one of these every week in her timetable, like everybody else in her year.
They usually study about health related issues or careers etc.
However today, she came home very VERY distressed and was practically crying.
The teacher just put on a DVD without telling them what it was about or anything.
It was about the Leather production, and it showed an abattoir where they were killing cows for their skins.
My daughter is a vegetarian and extremely stict again any animal cruelty.
She sat facing the wall the whole lesson trying not to cry - this extremely offended her.
Should I report this to her Head of Year?
She is begging me not to, but it has made her very distressed, and she wasn't even told what the film was about.
Your views are muchly appreciated. Please take into consideration my daughters beliefs. Thank-you.
She said she didn't walk out because she was afraid of what the other students would say.
They think she's weird because shes a vegetarian who refuses to have anything to do with meat.
She doesn't want me to do anything about it at all. Says that she's fine now. She was just shocked at the time. I feel as though its my duty to tell somebody about this!!
