I know people that claim their vacation home as primary residence for tax purposes. Change Drivers licence to match.. thoughts on this ? benefits/risks ?
Unless you actually *more* into your vacation home, this is fraud.
You cannot nominally claim to be a resident of a non-tax state to avoid income tax; you cannot nominally claim to be a resident of a 2nd home to get the $250K house exclusion.
Both the states and the IRS have a facts and circumstances rule. It's not just voting, it's not just driver's licenses.
