Should I buy the Nikkor 14mm f/2.8 or the Nikkor 14mm-24mm f/2.8?

I am looking into getting an extreme wide angle lens. I've heard good things about both of these lenses. However, I've heard the 14-24 is not a wide and offers less distortion than the 14mm. I want this lenses so I can shoot landscape, indoors, etc. I love wide angle shots, so please give some advice on these lenses. I will be purchasing a D3 in the near future (jumping from a d80. Oh my....)
The D3 will break for me a bit. I don't have endless funds nor am I rich. I'll just have the chance to buy one very shortly and I want to buy something that really justifies the money I will receive. I don't want to waste it on camera equipment I don't need, clothes, records or anything else. I want that one big spend, basically. The camera just seems worth the investment. Plus it has full frame capabilities.
Also, please don't make snide remarks about my purchasing a D3.
 
Logically a 14mm and 14-24mm lens are as wide as each other. 14mm=14mm
