This car has 250,000 miles, but it seems to run alright. The body is straight but needs paint. The interior is trashed. The guy is asking less than $1000 for it. I figured that if I can get him down to $750 it would be a decent purchase. Thoughts?

well really for a 1000 bucks should be able to fine one that is in better shape and is what id do.. i think you be wasting your money on repairs

No way. Unless you can get it for less than $100 don't waste your time.

All modern cars are built to last 10 years and 150k miles. If its well taken care of they can last longer. Still 250k miles means everything is probably broken or about to break. If they didn't take care of the interior they probably didn't take care of anything else so its probably only luck that it made it that far.

I would try to get him down to 500. That seems about fair. But I would be ready to do some major repairs. Usually if a car is trashed inside it means the owner probably neglected regular maintenance, and probably didn't drive it very well either. If the car was clean inside I would say you have a possibility of getting it to about 300,000. Now I really would not picture it going much more then its already at. The paint being in bad condition is very normal. With that high of mileage it has probably seen some very bad weather, and I am assuming it was not garage kept. Now would I buy it that depends. I would but I would expect from the start that I would be buying a new engine and transmission. All the parts are definitely going to be available from your local junkyard acura's are a very popular car. So it really all comes down to if your willing to put major work in it sure buy it, but if you just want a smooth running no problem car don't get it.
