Should I buy a Nexus One?

I am currently own a Samsung Epix (WinMo 6.1 with spb mobile shell) on AT&T and use my smart phones primarily as PIMs/PDAs. My contract is up in one month, at which time I can get a new phone from AT&T at a discount. There are more recent snapdragon-based phones I would like better but this appears to be the best one that is fully compatible with AT&Ts network. There are many rumors that AT&T will have a new snapdragon/android phone in the next month, though I am uncertain if I really want to wait. Below are my Pros and Cons as I currently see them.

Also, I have no interest in iPhones, regardless of generation. I do not want something locked down that I have to root and then worry about being bricked by some action AT&T or Apple takes.

Pros:

Unrestricted
Off AT&T's radar - I do not have to worry about AT&T pushing any updates down that I do not want
A nice upgrade to what I currently use.

Cons

I am uncertain if I will have issues syncing with my locked down business workstation (Activesync 4.5 or web based syncing with Outlook only - no driver installations allowed)
AT&T could announce something better and cheaper within weeks of a purchase - though it could also be messed up (ala Motorola Backflip)
Paying full price for a phone when I will get no service discount off contract hurts.
