Should I buy a New Car or just get this one fixed?

I have a Honda accord that works fairly well but gives me trouble after driving through traffic. My girlfriend lives in New York while i live in New Jersey and i like to drive down and see her. When i am on my way home the clutch on my car begins to slip in the holland tunnel and since there is traffic i must drive slowly. Finally The traffic lets up and I'm ready to go but my car decides not to move anymore. I keep trying to get it to move and finally it begins to crawl out of the tunnel at 5 Mph. I pull into a gas station and call a tow truck. When i am done being towed i get into the car to see if the problem was still there and the car began to work as if it never had any problems. What should I do buy a new car or bring it into honda to see if they can fix the problem?
 
get it checked out first and see what the problem is and how much it is to fix it. Then weigh your options in regards to cost.
 
Seems that your clutch is at it's end of service for u. Yes as you drive the car , the friction plate in clutch gets hot and starts to slip. If your car is in other wise good running condition, i would myself avoid a car payment and get the clutch replaced. Avoid going to a dealer for repairs, as their labor rates are much higher, than a general repair shop. good luck
 
just buy a new one becuz after all the repairs its gonna cost the price of a new one
 
My advice is the same as CHBN. There's no way to know what the best option is until you know how much it will cost to fix your car's current problem. Compare that cost to the car's value (year make model miles) and make your determination.
 
The economy is bad, If the car is not a POS then get the clutch fixed and stay out of debt
 
Well, it all depends how good your credit is and how much money you have to waste................
 
i don't know about the accords but some cars have a clutch that need to have automatic transmission Fluid in them for friction if you are lucky it may just need more fluid added and then you will need to bleed the clutch. take it to honda they should be able to help you out the accord is a very nice car it is worth fixing.
 
To fix the honda may cost you 1000 dollars. Even if you get a really cheap new car thats only 5 months worth of payments. Especially in NY...you probably dont worry too much about little bumps and dings...a new car? Well, we all know how you Jersey drivers are...lol. But seriously, if you've got a good car with a little slippage on the clutch, I'd have it replaced rather than buy new...or even newer used.
 
Do a cost analyst. What will be cheaper repair costs or monthly payments? Also take into account the age and resale value of your car. Will you be putting more money into this car than it's worth. If your not planning on buying a new car for a couple of years then get it fixed. If your going to sell or trade it in the next 6 months then don't fix it.

Sounds like you need a new clutch. This is a common fix. Get multiple bids before getting it fixed. Different shops charge different rates.
