Should I buy a new car or fix the one I have?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus with 138,000 miles. It is paid off. The current problems are stalling while idling, it needs a fan for the heat-A/C and it also needs new wheel bearings. I don't know anything about cars so there could be other problems... It sounds like a train when you are driving it down the road but that could be due to the bearings. It is paid off so I would hate to give it up if it is cheap enough to fix instead of trading in. I appreciate all tips and comments. Thanks!
Also, how much should these repairs be? We really can't fix much ourselves.

none of those are big jobs just annoying sounds like your timing is out thats why it stalling at idle an easy fix for any grease monkey worth his salt any questions contact me on [email protected]

I get the stalling while idling problem on my 306 - it could be down to just needing the plugs changing. Wheel bearings I think are about £60 a corner but i could be wrong there, and your fan won't be outrageously expensive either.

Get the mechanic to have a good look at it and see what he thinks. If he recommends more work take it somewhere else and see what they say too. If they come up with the same stuff get some quotes to have the work done :)

I would just go buy a new car. My sister in law has a focus and has had nothing but problems. The car isn't going to be worth all the money your going to be doing all that work to. try going to kbb.com and get the blue book value before you spend the extra money fixing it up.
