Should i buy a dslr canon rebel sxi for every day use,as the point + shoot cameras

DSLRs are no faster at capturing things happening than point and shoots.
You have to anticipate fast action and as at the point you press the shutter, the viewfinder blacks out on a DSLR, you are better off with a P+S.

There are many reasons to buy a DSLR but speed of operation isn't one of them.
